Tornado
My experience living in Florida included going through the horrors of the aftermaths of a tornado and a hurricane. These two weather occurrences leave total devastation behind them. Nothing but bits and pieces of houses, trees, plants, cars, almost anything that can be broken will be broken. After one of these storms I had started to put together scraps of fabrics. I had some commercial cottons in turquoise and purples that jumped out. I cut out pieces from a hand-painted fabric with metallic silver and bluish colors that spoke to me. Still the design was unclear but just playing with the pieces and thinking about what I wanted to depict kept me going. Each piece in the overall design signifies something.
